When you think classic all American style you think Ralph Lauren. You envision that crisp white button down shirt, a great pair of black slacks and a wonderful tweed blazer. You think casual elegance in the deepest sense of the word. Ralph Lauren didn't become a fashion designer because he loved fashion. He did it because he wanted to define a certain lifestyle, and he found that through clothing he could do exactly that.
"The clothes that I design and everything I've done is about life and how people live and how they want to live and how they dream they'll live," he says. "That's what I do."
The inspiration that Ralph Lauren ejects into his collections season after season does not come from any books or school. Heck, the guy even dropped out of college! Ever since the 60's when he first started deisgning neckties, he has been telling us the story that he sees through his eyes by transforming them into clothes. We see his story come alive at every single show.
His success has come because he's stayed connected with what his customers want—and stayed true to what he wants.
This season's Fall 2013 show embraced Ralph Lauren's ultimate style that he has portrayed season after season, showing us exactly what we want to see: clean, crisp, elegant all American and especially romantic Ralph Lauren. We are seeing lots of black, flowwy peeks of white, equestrian capes, turtlenecks (turtlenecks? really?), an overwhelming amount of velvet, chain tassels on ankle boots and lots of nude fur.
"For Fall 2013, I was inspired by the spirit of a romantic revolutionary--a timeless heroine, independent and bold, a woman who revels in her individuality and personal style." --Ralph Lauren
